Overture
OVERQUEER
When we think of an overture, we think of beginnings—an opening that sets the stage for something bigger. OverQUEER is just that: a space where LGBTQIA voices in classical music take center stage, where our stories, artistry, and history are celebrated.
Classical music has long been steeped in tradition, but tradition doesn’t mean exclusion. Queer artists have always been here—composing, performing, shaping the art form. Yet too often, their voices have been erased, minimized, or overlooked. This blog exists to amplify them.
Through OverQUEER, we’ll be exploring the intersection of queerness and classical music—sharing stories, highlighting artists, diving into history, and challenging the narratives that have kept our contributions in the shadows. Whether you’re a musician, a listener, an ally, or simply curious, this space is for you.
This is our overture. This is OverQUEER. Let’s make some noise. 🎶🏳️🌈
