PlayOut! envisions a world where LGBTQIA+ voices continue to be celebrated and amplified through the transformative powers of music. We believe that music transcends barriers, fostering connection, understanding, and empowerment for individuals and communities alike. Founded in 2018 by David Sands, a passionate cellist and advocate, PlayOut! began as a grassroots effort to share his coming out story through the voices of queer composers. Rooted in Chicago, PlayOut! strives to create inclusive spaces where artistry and identity intersect, ensuring that the legacy of diversity and equity in the arts continues to thrive.
